Everyone knows that at Braces For Pretty Faces, we love having fun at Halloween.… But it can be a “nightmare” if orthodontic appliances are damaged eating the wrong treats.
Every year, the entire Braces For Pretty Faces team is proactive in educating parents and patients of the potential problems that can occur if orthodontic patients don’t watch what they eat during this fun time of year.
October is National Orthodontic Health Month. Braces For Pretty Faces supports the American Association of Orthodontics in their efforts to make patients aware of foods they need to avoid, especially with Halloween goodies.

Handling Out of Town Emergencies
School is out in most parts of the country and summer vacation will soon be here. Do you know what to do if you have an orthodontic emergency while you are out of town, on vacation, or away at camp? Here are some tips from the Team at Braces for Pretty Faces.
Fortunately, most problems with your braces don't qualify as true emergencies. Let's talk about a few things you can do while you are away to avoid the inconvenience and expense of trying to find an orthodontist in an unfamiliar area. Here are some helpful hints on what to do if you have a problem with your braces.
Take a mini emergency kit with you – Include orthodontic wax, nail clippers or small pair of wire cutters, tweezers, a pencil with an eraser, and our phone number if you need guidance.

However, if it happens frequently and is combined with other symptoms such as jaw pain, locking of your jaws, reduced ability to open and close the mouth, ear pain, or difficulty chewing, you may have a condition known as TMD or TMJ disorder. Who has the best smile in 2010? Dr. Stephen Yao Tells All…
Well, according to the "Teen Choice Awards 2010," Taylor Lautner – aka Jason – was awarded the best smile in the world, based on the voters.
Watch Taylor’s acceptance speech on YouTube. He gives a nice shout-out to his orthodontist. The Teen Choice Award is positive proof how important a smile really is today. Why else would they be giving out an award for the best smile in the world!!!
